Thailand has launched a pilot program for an online lottery as part of its efforts to modernize the country’s gambling offerings. The initiative, led by the Government Lottery Office (GLO), aims to provide a secure and convenient option for players while reducing reliance on illegal lotteries.

The online platform includes features such as age verification and spending limits to promote responsible gambling. Early reports indicate strong public interest, with over 1 million tickets sold in the first month.

If successful, the program could pave the way for further liberalization of Thailand’s gambling laws, although broader reforms remain a contentious issue.
