Thailand is exploring the possibility of legalizing online gambling as part of its efforts to combat the growing influence of illegal operators. The government has formed a special committee to study the economic and social impacts of online gambling and assess the feasibility of creating a regulated market.

    

    Proponents of legalization argue that it could generate significant tax revenue and reduce the prevalence of unregulated platforms, which are often linked to criminal activities. However, opponents worry about the potential social consequences, particularly the risk of increased gambling addiction.

    

    The committee is expected to present its findings by mid-2025, after which lawmakers will decide whether to proceed with drafting legislation.
